Mumbai, May 10 -- The Shiv Sena (UBT) has expressed its deep concern over the alleged continuing incidence of farmer suicides in Maharashtra.

In a post on its official X account, the party slammed the Mahayuti government over its handling of agrarian distress in the state.

Reference was also made by the party to recent National Crime Records Bureau data for 2024, according to which Maharashtra reportedly recorded 3,824 farm-sector suicides, the highest in the country and accounting for more than one-third of the national total of 10,546 such deaths.
