Shillong, Aug. 21 -- Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Home, Prestone Tynsong, rejected allegations of an intelligence failure over the violence during the Khasi Students' union (KSU) rally in Shillong, and promised strict action against those behind the assaults and vandalism.
"There was no such (intelligence) failure," Tynsong said, noting that the KSU was permitted to hold their black-flag bike rally conditionally, after assuring it would be "peaceful" and "dignified.""When you look at the rally, quite a number of boys were masked. This clearly shows their intention was not peaceful. Law will take its own course," the Deputy Chief Minister said.
