Mumbai, Oct. 4 -- Workers of the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) faction, on Sunday, performed a symbolic 'shradh' (ritual remembrance of deceased ancestors) of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during a mega protest march in Mumbai against the Election Commission of India (ECI) and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.
The protest, organised as part of the 'Mahagarjana Morcha', saw participation from workers of the Shiv Sena (UBT), Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and the Sharad Pawar faction of the NCP.
Taking advantage of the ongoing Pitru Paksha period, some protesters conducted the ritual on the roadside, arranging traditional items used for the ceremony before beginning the 'shradh' of an EVM.
