Dharamshala-, July 23 -- Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and former union Minister Shanta Kumar on Wednesday urged the state government to honour a couple from Spaida village in Shahpur subdivision for their timely warning that reportedly saved several lives during a cloudburst-triggered disaster.

Referring to reports of the incident, Shanta Kumar said that after heavy rainfall, a cloudburst occurred on the hill above Spaida village, sending a torrent of water, mud and boulders downhill. Seeing the muddy floodwaters, Pappu Ram and Ranu Devi immediately raised an alarm, prompting villagers to rush out of their homes.
