Shankaracharya case: Congress demands investigation by a retired HC judge

Varanasi, Feb. 25 -- The Congress party in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday extended open support to Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati of Jyotirpeeth. Following the call by Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee President Ajay Rai, a memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister was submitted to district magistrates in all 75 districts of the state on Wednesday.

As part of the state-wide campaign, dozens of leaders and workers, led by the Varanasi City Congress Committee, reached the district headquarters with posters in support of Shankaracharya and submitted a memorandum to the ADM (Protocol).
