Purulia, April 19 -- in a setback for West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress, a host of its leaders and workers joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in Purulia district on Sunday, barely few hours before the election campaign of Prime Minister Narendra Modi here.

Those who shifted camps included the former Purulia Zilla Parishad Superintendent Haladhar Mahato, ex Trinamool Block President of Raghunathpur Amar Mahato, and several of their loyalists.

BJP MP from Purulia Lok Sabha constituency Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato, district BJP president Shankar Mahato and other leaders handed over the party flag to the new joinees at the BJP MP's office in this town.
