Kolkata, May 4 -- : Several top Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders and ministers are trailing after the first round of counting in the West Bengal Assembly elections, according to early trends on Monday.

In one of the most surprising developments, minister Sashi Panja is trailing in the Shyampukur constituency, where she is behind BJP's Purnima Chakraborty by 283 votes after the first round of counting.

In a simultaneous setback for the ruling TMC, party's chief whip in the assembly Nirmal Majhi is trailing by a margin of 1,845 votes against BJP's Prasanta Digar in Goghat, after the first round of counting.
