Pune, Jan. 20 -- The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) suffered a major setback in Pune district on Tuesday with three party loyalists joining the BJP.

Rajendra Gavade, son of former Shirur MLA Poptarao Gavade and NCP District Vice President Sunita Tai Gavade, Chairperson of the Zilla Parishad Child Welfare Committee, and Manisha Gavade, former Mayor of Shirur, along with a large number of their supporters, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

State Minister for Higher and Technical Education, Chandrakant Dada Patil, welcomed them into the party and extended his best wishes.
