New Delhi, March 19 -- Indian equity investors lost around Rs 12 lakh crore in intraday trade as domestic markets witnessed a massive sell-off, with both Sensex and Nifty plunging over 3 per cent during the session.
The BSE Sensex settled at 74,207.24, down 2,496.89 points or 3.26 per cent, while the NSE Nifty closed at 23,002.15, slipping 775.65 points or 3.26 per cent.
The market opened on a weak note and extended losses through the day.
Around 10:30 am, the Sensex had already plunged 1,638.86 points, while the Nifty dropped 498.85 points, reflecting intense selling pressure across sectors.
