Kozhikode, May 30 -- The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday launched extensive search operations across five districts in Kerala-Malappuram, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Kannur, and Kasaragod, in connection with the seizure of a large quantity of explosives at Chemmad in Kerala's Malappuram district.

A massive cache of explosives, suspected to be bound for a quarry, was seized from a truck at a hollow bricks producing unit at Chemmad in Malappuram, in February by the Kerala police. The explosives were found hidden under onion sacks. The Tirurangadi police registered a case and started the investigation.
