New Delhi/Hyderabad, July 3 -- Telangana Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) on Friday urged the 16th Finance Commission to provide special relaxations for Adivasi, tribal, Scheduled Area and backward Gram Panchayats in performance-based grants and 'Own Source Revenue' norms, stating that rural local bodies should not be judged solely on tax collection.
Addressing a national workshop on recommendations for rural local bodies under the chairmanship of union Panchayat Raj Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Seethakka said equal importance should be given to service delivery, sanitation, transparency, digital governance and public participation.
