Imphal, July 16 -- Security forces and Manipur Police conducted a series of operations across the state, recovering a large cache of arms and ammunition and arresting nine persons in connection with criminal, insurgency-related and other cases.
In Imphal West district on Wednesday, security forces recovered a sizeable cache of weapons from Ishok Mamang Leikai near Loktak Lake under Wangoi Police Station.
The recovered items included four modified bolt-action single-barrel rifles, one modified .303 rifle with a magazine, one M2 carbine rifle fitted with a telescopic sight and magazine, one 9 mm pistol with a magazine, and 26 live rounds of various calibres.
