Kanker, April 13 -- A woman Maoist commander was killed in an encounter with the security forces in the Kanker district on Monday, as search operations continued in the area following intelligence inputs on Maoist presence.
The slain commander has been identified as Roopi, a member of the Telugu cadre. The encounter comes just days after the state government reiterated its claim of eliminating armed Maoist insurgency by March 31, 2026.
The exchange of fire took place in the Machpalli-Aramjhora-Hiduur forest belt under the Chhotebethiya-Partapur police station area.
