Agartala, June 4 -- Security has been significantly heightened in Agartala since last night ahead of union Home Minister Amit Shah's two-day visit to Tripura.

Shah is scheduled to arrive at MBB Airport this afternoon from Shillong after attending the NEC Plenary Session with all Chief Ministers and Governors of the northeastern states.

In order to ensure tight security, IG-rank officers have been deployed to oversee arrangements at all venues the union Home Minister is scheduled to visit.

He will take part in the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for the proposed Taj Pushbanta Palace Hotel at the Old Raj Bhawan premises tomorrow.
