Bengaluru, Oct. 28 -- BJP MP Tejasvi Surya today cited Karnataka government's own Detailed Project Report (DPR) to assert that the proposed car-only tunnel project in Bengaluru would have "negligible impact" on easing congestion, and called for the funds to be redirected towards expanding the Metro network to move vastly more commuters efficiently.
Speaking to reporters here, Surya said the DPR shows the tunnel could carry only around 1,800 vehicles per hour per direction, while a Metro line built along the same alignment could transport nearly 69,000 passengers in that period - a scale he claimed demonstrated the "inefficient and car-centric" nature of the project.
