Mumbai, Nov. 4 -- In a freak mishap, a school bus caught fire on the Mumbra Bypass Road in adjoining Thane district this afternoon. However there were no students on board and the driver and cleaner jumped out to safety.
A local resident alerted the fire brigade and the flames were extinguished, police said.
The bus, bearing registration number MH 04 JU 3372 belonged to Symbiosis School in Kausa and was headed towards Shilphata when flames suddenly erupted inside the moving vehicle. The cause of the fire is not known.
