New Delhi, July 21 -- The Supreme Court today refused to intervene in the Samajwadi Party's plea challenging its eviction from a party office in Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit district, directing it to seek interim relief before the appropriate civil court.
A bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi heard the matter and made sharp observations on alleged misuse of political power.
"How did you come to occupy the premises?" Justice Kant asked Senior Advocate Siddharth Dave, appearing for the party.
"People should have some faith in the system. If you've misused political power, you can't now complain about procedure not being followed," Justice Kant remarked.
