New Delhi, Nov. 10 -- The Supreme Court today expressed deep concern over the alarming rise in cyber fraud cases involving so-called "digital arrests," observing that nearly Rs 3,000 crore have been extorted from citizens through such scams.

A bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi remarked that the figures disclosed in court were "shocking" and stressed that the judiciary would deal with the matter with an "iron hand."The Bench indicated the urgent need for a robust mechanism to curb the menace and protect the public from sophisticated scam networks operating within and outside India.
