New Delhi, June 12 -- : The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a writ petition filed by Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan challenging the rejection of her nomination for the Rajya Sabha election from Madhya Pradesh. The Court, however, granted her liberty to pursue the matter through an election petition under the Representation of the People Act.

A bench comprising Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and A S Chandurkar declined to entertain the plea, holding that judicial intervention was barred at this stage under Article 329 of the Constitution. Observing that the challenge could be raised through the statutory election petition mechanism, the bench dismissed the writ petition as not maintainable.
