New Delhi, Nov. 10 -- The Supreme Court on Monday reaffirmed its landmark judgement in a case involving RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, holding that a state government has no authority to file an appeal against an acquittal in a criminal case that has been investigated and prosecuted by the CBI.
A three-judge bench of Justices Vikram Nath, Sanjay Karol and Sandeep Mehta delivered the ruling while deciding a batch of appeals arising from the acquittal of Amit Aishwarya Jogi, son of the then Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Ajit Jogi, in the murder case of Nationalist Congress Party leader Ramavatar Jaggi on June 4, 2003.
