New Delhi, July 21 -- In yet another reminder against using courts for political battles, the Supreme Court today refused to entertain a plea challenging the quashing of a criminal case filed against Karnataka BJP MP Tejasvi Surya for allegedly spreading fake news about a farmer's suicide.

A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India BR Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran was hearing the Karnataka State Government's appeal against a High Court order that had quashed the criminal case registered against Surya.

The BJP MP was accused of spreading misinformation regarding the suicide of farmer Rudrappa Channappa Balikai in Haveri district.

While dismissing the State's petition, the Court cautioned against politicising legal matters before it. "...
