Parmod KumarNew Delhi, March 24 -- The Supreme Court on Tuesday observed that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls had proceeded largely smoothly across the country, with concerns being raised only in West Bengal.
Referring to a writeup on the SIR, Chief Justice Surya Kant heading a bench also comprising Justice Joymalya Bagchi said, "I read an article on SIR. Apart from West Bengal, everywhere it happened smoothly."Senior Advocate Kalyan Banerjee, appearing for West Bengal, submitted that the situation in Bengal was marked by several unusual developments not seen in other States.
