New Delhi, Jan. 23 -- The Supreme Court of India on Friday issued notice in a writ petition filed by the Hindu Dharma Parishad seeking directions to Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and other central authorities to take over control of the entire Thirupparankundram Lord Murugan Subramaniya Swamy Temple, and to ensure permanent 24-hour lighting of the lamp atop the Deepathoon (stone pillar).

The petition also seeks directions that on the auspicious day of Karthigai, the entire Thirupparankundram Hill be illuminated with lamps and that Muruga devotees be permitted to worship there.
