New Delhi, Aug. 29 -- The Supreme Court today issued notice on a plea challenging the Telangana High Court's December 17, 2024 decision, which had disposed of a petition questioning the Scheduled Tribe (ST) status granted to Lambadi, Sugali, and Banjara communities.

The matter was heard by a Bench of Justice JK Maheshwari and Justice Vijay Bishnoi, which directed the issuance of notice to the union Government as well as the State of Telangana.

Senior Advocate Dama Seshadri Naidu, along with Advocates Ramesh Allanki and Alabhya Dhamija, appeared for the petitioners, who have approached the Court through Advocate-on-Record Aruna Gupta.
