New Delhi, Sept. 1 -- The Supreme Court today dismissed a plea filed by Colaba residents challenging the construction of a Rs 229 crore passenger jetty and terminal near South Mumbai's iconic Gateway of India, close to the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and Radio Club.

A bench comprising Chief Justice of India BR Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran was hearing a special leave petition (SLP) filed by the Clean and Heritage Colaba Residents Association against the Bombay High Court's July 15 judgment.

The High Court had upheld the project subject to certain conditions regarding the nature of facilities permitted at or around the terminal.
