New Delhi, Oct. 27 -- The Supreme Court today refused to entertain a writ petition seeking the implementation of a star-rating system for vehicles across India, aimed at reducing air pollution and related health hazards.
A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai and Justice K. Vinod Chandran refused to interfere in the matter, observing that it falls within the domain of the policy of the government.
The Court was hearing the plea filed by Dr. Sanjay Kulshrestha, who appeared in person.
The petitioner argued that introducing a star-rating system for vehicles similar to that used for appliances would help consumers choose eco-friendly vehicles and thereby reduce vehicular pollution.
