New Delhi, Jan. 12 -- The Supreme Court on Monday appointed judicial officer Sunena Sharma as the Special Judge to hear cases relating to alleged illegality in the allocation of coal blocks across the country.

A bench comprising Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi passed the order on an application moved by the Delhi High Court, which stated that the present Special Judge, Sanjay Bhansal, had been holding the post for over four-and-a-half years and was due to be replaced.
