New Delhi, July 17 -- The Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear AAP leader Somnath Bharti's appeal challenging the election of BJP's Satish Upadhyay from the Malviya Nagar Assembly constituency in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections.
A Bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta granted leave to appeal after briefly hearing submissions from the parties. Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal appeared for Bharti, and Senior Advocate Maninder Singh represented Upadhyay.
Sibal said that the Delhi High Court has rejected Bharti's election petition on the erroneous grounds that he failed to make Congress candidate Jitender Kumar Kochar a necessary party.
