Pune, July 30 -- Proceedings continued before the MP-MLA Special Court in Pune, presided over by Judge Amol Shriram Shinde, in the criminal defamation case filed against Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his alleged defamatory remarks about freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.
During the cross-examination on Thursday, Rahul Gandhi's counsel, Advocate Milind Dattatraya Pawar, drew the court's attention to passages from Savarkar's book 'Vijnananishtha Nibandh' (Scientific Essays), which was produced before the court and taken on record.
Complainant Satyaki Savarkar, grandnephew of Vinayak Savarkar, acknowledged before the court that the contents of the book were authored by Vinayak Damodar Savarkar himself.
