Buldhana, Sept. 21 -- Maharashtra Congress chief Harshwardhan Sapkal has called for a compensation package of Rs 1 lakh per hectare and a blanket farm loan waiver for cultivators affected by drought-like conditions in several parts of the state.
During a visit to rain-hit agricultural areas in Buldhana district on Sunday, Sapkal alleged that farmers were suffering heavy crop losses due to inadequate rainfall while the government continued to delay relief measures through a series of meetings and reviews.
Referring to the prevailing situation, he claimed that deficient monsoon rainfall had left standing crops withering in many regions and urged the state administration to provide immediate assistance rather than postpone decisions.
