Beed, Aug. 30 -- The district and sessions court in Beed today rejected the bail application of Valmik Karad, the prime accused in the brutal murder of sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh.
The court has scheduled the hearing on his discharge petition for September 10.
The murder of Deshmukh had triggered widespread outrage across Maharashtra. Following the incident, former minister Dhananjay Munde was forced to resign as Karad, his close aide, was named as the main accused. Along with Karad, five others have been arrested in the case, while one accused still absconding.
