Sangrur, Oct. 8 -- A 20-year-old newly married woman, who was reportedly a few months pregnant, allegedly died by suicide after hanging herself at her house in Jharon village near Cheema in Sangrur district, police said on Thursday.
Cheema police station SHO Sub-Inspector Raj Kumar said the woman was originally from Romana village near Bajakhana in Faridkot district and had married a resident of Jharon village around one-and-a-half years ago.
According to the police, preliminary information suggested that the woman was allegedly being subjected to frequent harassment by her husband.
She subsequently hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her house, the SHO said.
