Mumbai, Jan. 4 -- Sambhaji Raje, a descendant of Maratha emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji and Apurva Samant from a political family, have been elected unopposed as members of the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA).
The development is expected to provide new direction to cricket administration in the state, according to discussions in sporting circles, a release stated on Sunday.
Apurva Samant, daughter of Ratnagiri MLA Kiran Samant, is known as a highly educated young entrepreneur. Her active involvement in social and entrepreneurial initiatives has been widely appreciated. Her induction into the MCA is expected to open new opportunities for aspiring young men and women from the Konkan region in the field of cricket.
