New Delhi, Oct. 9 -- Former Mumbai wicketkeeper-batter and coach Vinayak Samant has been appointed head coach of Chandigarh across formats for the upcoming domestic season.

Samant, who coached Bihar last season, joined the Chandigarh team on Thursday ahead of their Ranji Trophy opener against Mumbai at the Wankhede Stadium on October 11.

The former Mumbai coach was contacted by the Chandigarh association earlier this week. He brings recent success with Bihar, who won both the Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy titles in the Plate group last season, beating Manipur in the finals of both competitions.

Samant coached Mumbai for two seasons from 2018 to 2020 and also guided the side to the Vijay Hazare Trophy title in the 2018-19 season. ...
