Lucknow, Feb. 17 -- A heated debate erupted between the ruling BJP and the Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Tuesday over the alleged closure of council schools. During the question hour, several Samajwadi Party (SP) members alleged that government schools were being closed in the state while liquor shops were being opened in villages.
SP MLAs demanded a clear answer from the government on issues such as teacher shortages, delays in recruitment, and the mandatory TET. SP members said council schools are the backbone of education in rural areas, but their position is being weakened due to government policies.
