New Delhi, July 29 -- State-run steel major Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) on Wednesday said a combination of financial discipline, prudent cash management and operational efficiency helped it post a sharp increase in profit during the first quarter of FY2026-27 (FY27) despite a challenging global environment.

Commenting on the company's performance, SAIL Chairman and Managing Director Dr Ashok Kumar Panda said the results reflected the strength of the company's integrated strategy in navigating global headwinds arising from volatility in the Middle East.
