Foxborough (USA), June 20 -- Morocco edged past Scotland 1-0 in a tightly contested FIFA World Cup Group C match at Gillette Stadium here on Saturday IST, with Ismael Saibari's early strike proving decisive.

Saibari stunned Scotland after just two minutes when he latched onto a precise ball from Brahim Diaz and volleyed past goalkeeper Angus Gunn for his second goal of the tournament.

The North Africans controlled large spells of the contest and created the better opportunities, but Scotland's defence and Gunn kept the margin to a single goal with a series of important interventions.
