Prayagraj, Sept. 9 -- The demolition of a mosque in Saharanpur has reached the Allahabad High Court, with the mosque committee challenging the action taken by the authorities.
The petition was filed by Mohammed Tanveer Ahmed, the Mutawalli of the mosque committee, alleging that the mosque was demolished without serving any legal notice or demolition order.
The petition also contends that the demolition amounts to a violation of the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991.
The Waqf Board, along with the Saharanpur district administration and the Uttar Pradesh government, has also been made a party to the case.
The matter is expected to come up for hearing before the High Court next week.
