Srinagar, April 29 -- Amid deep spiritual fervour, the holy Piprahwa relics of Tathagata Buddha arrived in Leh on Wednesday, marking the beginning of a historic religious celebration in Ladakh.
The relics will be opened for rare public veneration from May 1, with the exposition continuing till May 15 during which the relics of Lord Buddha are set to travel through several places. This marks the first time the sacred relics would be displayed within India outside their secure preservation site, although they have previously been exhibited abroad.
