New York, Sept. 7 -- World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka stamped her authority on the hard courts of Flushing Meadows today IST successfully defending her US Open title with a 6-3, 7-6(3) win over American Amanda Anisimova. In doing so, the Belarusian became the first woman since Serena Williams in 2014 to win back-to-back singles crowns in New York.
The 27-year-old top seed entered the championship match under pressure, having lost finals at both the Australian Open and Roland Garros earlier this year. But she rose to the occasion, producing a blend of relentless power and composure to capture her first major trophy of 2025, and the fourth of her career.
