Asansol, May 19 -- The District Magistrate of West Burdwan district, S. Ponnamballam was on Tuesday appointed the new administrator of Durgapur Municipal Corporation, a West Bengal government notification said on Tuesday.
The previous chairperson of Durgapur Municipal Corporation, Anindita Mukherjee, had resigned from her post after the new BJP government took charge in the state.
Mukherjee, who was the mayor of Durgapur Municipal Corporation (DMC) and wife of former mayor and MLA of Durgapur West, Apurba Mukherjee, was named chairperson of the Board of Administrators of Durgapur Municipal Corporation by the previous TMC government as the elections could not be held.
