Morena (MP), Nov. 4 -- The family of a debt-ridden peasant, who committed suicide in this district, is in a wretched condition.
Mukesh Gurjar's tearful wife Lakshmi Devi wonders how she will feed her children as she has only 1.5 bighas of land. She said that her husband had taken ten bighas on contract at Rs 20,000 per bigha from other cultivators in the village. The contractual land was used to grow paddy. The crop was good but rain wreaked havoc.
"We had a buffalo and used to sell its milk but the animal perished," Lakshmi said.
