Jammu, Jan. 21 -- A joint team of the Army and Police, during routine patrolling on Wednesday, recovered a rusted mortar shell and grenades in a river bed in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Official sources here said that ahead of Republic Day celebrations, Army and police teams were conducting a routine patrol close to the border and found an abandoned sandbag in the river bed at village Sangam in Basantar in Samba district.

"During the search, an old mortar shell and live grenades were found in the bag," they said.
