Kyiv, Aug. 1 -- At least nine people were killed and 28 others, including four children, were injured after Russia launched a fresh barrage of ballistic missiles on Kyiv overnight, marking the second major attack on the Ukrainian capital in 48 hours, Ukrainian officials said on Saturday.
The strikes damaged residential buildings, warehouses and commercial facilities across several districts of the city, trapping residents beneath collapsed structures and triggering multiple fires, according to Ukraine's State Emergency Service.
Emergency responders said rescue operations were continuing after 105 people were pulled from damaged buildings. Seventeen of the injured were hospitalized, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.
