Astana, March 26 -- Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Thursday reaffirmed that Russia remains Kazakhstan's "main trade, economic and investment partner," as both sides signalled a push to deepen cooperation across key sectors.

"Russia is our main trade, economic and investment partner. And we are, of course, happy about it," Tokayev said during talks with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Mishustin said bilateral trade is rapidly approaching the USD 30 billion mark, a target earlier expected to be achieved later. "We once planned to reach $30 billion much later, but we are already almost there," he noted.
