Moscow, Sept. 8 -- Russia on Tuesday backed Saudi Arabia's efforts to address regional tensions through diplomacy, describing Houthi attacks on Saudi infrastructure as "counterproductive" and calling for a broader forum to consider proposals for lasting peace and stability in the Gulf.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Moscow is ready to contribute to efforts to resolve the conflict in the Middle East, while stressing that regional disputes should not be settled through military action.
