Shimla, May 27 -- "Rural Himachal has reaffirmed its faith in Congress and rejected BJP politics," Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee President Vinay Kumar said on Wednesday while expressing satisfaction over the performance of Congress-backed candidates in the first phase of the Panchayati Raj Institutions elections in the state.
He said the enthusiastic participation of people, especially in rural areas, in the Panchayat elections reflected the strength of democracy in the country.
"Congress party had consistently worked for the protection and strengthening of democratic institutions and continued to enjoy the confidence of the people because of its policies and decisions," he said.
