Chennai, July 16 -- Sending out a clear message it has zero tolerance against corruption, a functionary of the ruling TVK was arrested on Rs 1.30 lakh bribery chargeafter a video in this regard went viral on the social media.
A couple of hours after he was expelled from the primary membership of the party following the video, the TVK Chengalpattu East District Joint Secretary Veera alias Veerasamy was arrested late last evening following allegations that he had received Rs 1.30 lakhfrom a contractor for clearing pending bills pertained to road construction works.
According to reports, the arrest was made following directives from Chief Minister and TVK Founder Vijay who rode to power promising to eradicate corruption.
