Bengaluru, Aug. 15 -- A political fight over the RSS' registration has widened into a direct confrontation between the Congress and BJP in Karnataka, with the ruling party questioning why the organisation should remain outside formal registration and financial scrutiny.

The issue gained traction after BJP leader B.L. Santosh reportedly maintained that the RSS was not registered and would not register in future.

Karnataka Minister Vijayanand Kashappanavar seized on the remark to question the organisation's financial transparency, saying registration was essential for any organisation seeking official legitimacy and accountability.
