Panchkula, Aug. 26 -- Haryana Chief Minister on Wednesday said the state's sporting policy was aimed not merely at producing medal winners but at creating a complete support system for athletes from the grassroots to the international stage, as he honoured Haryana's medal winners and participants of the 2026 Commonwealth Games at a felicitation ceremony in Panchkula.
Highlighting Haryana's performance at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, the Chief Minister said India won 39 medals-13 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze-to finish fourth in the medal table. Haryana made a substantial contribution, with 24 of the 122 Indian athletes being from the state. These athletes won 11 medals-seven gold, two silver and two bronze.
